LARA Gym Monitor Responsibilities

As part of our commitment to the school, the LARA Basketball Program agrees to monitor the activities in the West Gym and LES facilities during practices and games. As a Gym Monitor during Practices and Games, the expectations are to ensure:

  1. During practices, kids/parents are in the gym and not in the common area.
  2. During games, kids/parents are in the gym or commons area and not in the hallways, classrooms, or offices.
  3. During practices, kids/parents stay off the collapsed bleaches @ LES. The weight bends the support structure and the bleachers will not extend.
  4. Baskets for 8 ft are taken down and stored after the last practice or game.
  5. Bouncing basketballs occur only when a player/team/coach has the rights to the court. No dribbling in the bleachers, common areas, or on stage.
  6. Practice in the gyms end promptly (especially the 8:00 to 9:00 pm times in LES).
  7. Attendees are displaying sportsmanship.
  8. Last practice shuts the lights off.
Facility Closing Procedures
  1. Ensure all attendees have left the building.
  2. Lock main entrance doors by using the Allen wrench to release the push bars.
  3. Taken down and store the 8 ft baskets.
  4. Turn off all lights.
    a. LES: Top switches in circuit breaker panel at North end of gym.
    b. West Gym: Marked circuit breaker switches in circuit breaker panel at south end of stage.
  5. On Games days:
    a. Leave clock control, possession arrow, & bleachers out in LES gym. Place equipment bag (bball, official jersey's, scorebooks, etc.) in south storage room with 8 ft baskets.
    b. Lock clock control, possession arrow, & equipment bag (bball, official jersey's, scorebooks, etc.) under bleachers in West Gym.
